This Jacobean Revival secretary cabinet is constructed of oak with a dark brown stained finish. The piece is a two-piece construction, consisting of a combined upper cabinet and drop-front desk unit that sits upon a separate four-legged stand. The exterior features heavy relief carving, including two upper door panels with geometric and floral motifs and a vertical side panel with foliate scrollwork. A horizontal carved band separates the upper and lower sections of the cabinet face. The upper cabinet portion opens to an interior with a single shelf. The lower portion features a drop-front desk that opens to reveal a fitted interior with central open pigeonholes, horizontal document slots, and two small drawers equipped with turned wooden knobs. The unit is supported by a stand featuring four robust barley-twist legs joined by a low-profile H-stretcher and terminating in block feet. Hardware includes metal butt hinges and metal stay rods to support the desk surface when open. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the interior or exterior of the piece.
