A pair of hand-carved wooden bookends featuring stylized figural busts. One bust depicts a male figure with textured hair, and the other depicts a female figure wearing a headwrap. Each bust is mounted on an L-shaped wooden base. The items are carved from a dark wood with a rich grain and a polished surface finish. The carving style features expressive facial modeling and deep-set eyes, characteristic of mid-20th-century decorative woodcarving traditions from the Caribbean or Haiti. Both pieces are incised on the underside of the base with the signature F. Decembre.
